I Need a Good Solid Cookie Icing Recipe

I've got some great cookie cutters for Halloween: ghost shape, bat shape, pumpkin shape. But every icing I have tried is soft and/or runny. I want an icing that will be thick and solid. Even the ready-made stuff (gag!) is too soft for me.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

So, how solid is solid? My daughter worked for one of those cookie bouquet places as a decorator. She knows how to make frosting that you can use for that. Is that the density you're looking for? Or do you want something even more stiff?

YES!! Cookie bouquet cookie icing would be PERFECT!!!!

Get it for me!!!

Thanks!

Are we talking about royal icing here? The kind that gets completely hard after it's been applied?

Is that what's it called? I definitely want it to have the consistency of the icing used in the cookie bouquets. It's very stiff and it is probably a little bit difficult to work with but it is the consistency I am looking for.

Steady Steps (the Bear's day school at our church) is having their Halloween Parade on Tuesday morning and I need to have 3 dozen cookies decorated and ready to go.

Then royal icing is what you need. Which any decent cookbook of the "Joy of Cooking" variety should be able to provide. Or, of course, Google. And hey, my friend Alan is already linking to this blog. How cute is that?

Alan's just cute, period.
